The Details
A closer look at doors in Maryland.
Materials and options we install
We install three categories of doors for Maryland homeowners: entry doors, storm doors, and patio doors. For entry doors, our two flagship lines are ProVia and Therma-Tru, both in fiberglass and steel. Fiberglass gives you the convincing look of stained wood with none of the warping, swelling or repaint cycles. Steel is the strongest, most cost-effective option and a great fit for side and rear entries.
For patio doors we install Andersen 200 and 400 Series sliding and hinged units alongside ProVia patio systems. Every patio door we install includes Low-E glass, proper sill pan flashing, and integrated weatherstripping. For storm doors, we install Larson, Andersen and ProVia in full-view, ventilating, and security configurations.
Hardware matters too. We install Schlage, Baldwin and Emtek lock sets, and we are happy to spec a smart lock (Schlage Encode, August, Yale) integrated cleanly during the install instead of as a retrofit later.
Doors in the Maryland climate
Maryland weather is brutal on doors. Direct summer sun on a south or west-facing entry will fade and crack a poorly chosen door in under five years. Winter cold makes thin wood doors warp and pull away from their weatherstripping. Humid spring and fall conditions swell wood doors so they stick and stop latching cleanly.
Modern fiberglass doors solve every one of those problems. The foam core gives you a real R-value of 5 to 6 (compared to less than 2 on an old wood door), the fiberglass skin will not warp, swell or rot, and factory-applied finishes hold up to UV exposure far better than any field stain. Steel doors are similarly stable and add a security advantage at side and rear entries where appearance matters less.
Our warranty and quality approach
ProVia and Therma-Tru entry doors carry full lifetime limited warranties on the door slab and a separate finish warranty (typically 10 years on factory-applied finishes). Andersen patio doors register for the same 20-year glass and 10-year non-glass coverage as their windows.
Because every door we install is set by our own crew (not a sub), we add a workmanship warranty on top. If a door drifts out of alignment, the threshold leaks, or the latch stops engaging cleanly because of how it was installed, we are back on-site to make it right.
Signs you need a new door
- You can feel a draft along the edges of the door or under the threshold in winter.
- The door sticks, drags on the threshold, or has to be slammed to latch properly.
- Visible rot, soft spots or peeling paint on the door slab or frame.
- Daylight visible around the door when it is closed and locked.
- An outdated look that drags down the rest of the home's curb appeal, especially after a fresh paint or siding job.
- Security concerns: a hollow-core door, an old single-cylinder deadbolt, or visible damage around the latch from an attempted entry.

Questions
Frequently asked.
Yes. We match or upgrade interior casing and exterior brickmould or trim as part of the install so the door looks original to the home, not retrofitted.
