The Details

A closer look at windows in Maryland.

Materials and options we install

We install the full Andersen lineup as a certified contractor. The 400 Series is our most popular choice for Maryland homes: a wood-core window clad in low-maintenance vinyl, available in double-hung, casement, awning, gliding, picture and bay configurations. For higher-end homes in Bethesda, Potomac and Chevy Chase, the A-Series offers a Fibrex composite exterior and a real wood interior with multiple stain options. The E-Series is a fully custom aluminum-clad wood window for architectural projects with specific historic or design requirements.

Every Andersen window we install ships with their High-Performance Low-E4 glass package as standard, which blocks 84 percent of UV rays and significantly reduces solar heat gain. We can upgrade to Low-E4 SmartSun for west-facing rooms that get hammered with afternoon sun, or to HeatLock coating for north-facing rooms in homes where winter heat retention matters more than summer cooling.

Beyond Andersen, we also install premium replacement windows from Pella and ProVia when a specific project calls for it. Every install is to manufacturer spec and registered for full warranty.

The Maryland energy case

If your windows are original to a 1985 Rockville colonial or a 1990s Gaithersburg split-level, they are quietly costing you hundreds of dollars every season. BGE and Pepco have both raised supply rates again this year. The Department of Energy estimates that old single-pane windows leak 25 to 30 percent of a home's heating and cooling. Even early double-pane units with failed seals are not far behind.

Real-world numbers we see from clients in Montgomery County: 40 to 120 dollars per month in summer cooling savings, noticeable comfort improvement (drafts gone, rooms more even), and a 50 percent or better reduction in outside road and lawn-equipment noise. On a typical 20-window project the energy savings alone tend to pay back a meaningful chunk of the investment over the time you own the home. The rest comes back in resale value and daily comfort.

Our warranty and quality approach

Because we are factory-certified by Andersen, your windows register for full manufacturer warranty coverage the moment we hand you the paperwork. That is 20 years on glass, 10 years on non-glass parts, and transferable to the next homeowner.

Our own workmanship warranty sits on top of that. If a window we installed leaks, drafts or sticks because of how it was set, we are back to fix it. We run our own crews, do our own trim and caulk work, and never sub the install out to a separate company.

Signs you need new windows

  • You can feel a draft with your hand on a cold day, or you see curtains move when the wind blows outside.
  • Condensation or fog between the glass panes. The insulating gas seal has failed and the window has lost most of its R-value.
  • Sashes that do not stay open, are painted shut, or have to be propped with a stick.
  • Visible rot or soft spots on wooden sashes, sills or frames.
  • Outside noise that feels louder than it should, especially traffic, lawn equipment or HVAC compressors.
  • Heating or cooling system running constantly in extreme weather despite being properly sized.
